Landfill sniffer

Description

The landfill sniffer is designer to map point sources of methane release from landfills. A point-source screening is often one of the initial steps in an environmental site investigation as it is well known that the release of gases from the surface varies a lot. Once the variation is mapped on a qualitative level using the sniffer, more detailed quantitative investigations like emission quantification or risk of explosion/suffocation can be planned.

Using the Landfill sniffer you can walk with a normal speed of about 5 km/h and the rapid response time from the methane analyser is still sufficient for you to locate the point sources qualitatively. The point sources can afterwards be geolocated with a high precision GPS.

As shown in the image above a battery is carried in a backpack and this is sufficient for a days work in the field.

The landfill sniffer can also be rented with an operator, and we will return a map with point sources which you can use in your plans for further field work.
